Counselor

Talunja is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with more than 20 years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. She is committed to providing a safe environment for clients to share feelings, fears, challenges, and goals for themselves and their families. She is trained in a variety of treatment techniques, including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and developmental therapies. Talunja has worked in the community and private sectors with individuals with various mental health diagnoses, such as co-occurring disorders, substance abuse, and trauma. She has more than 20 years of Crisis Training and Intervention, is a Verbal De-escalation Trainer, and is certified in EMDR. Talunja began her career working with domestic violence victims and perpetrators. Her work at The Oaks included oversight of residential counselors, providing individual and group therapy, and administrative functions. At the University of Mississippi, Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, Talunja supervised Master Level Counselors in Training, modeled counseling techniques, provided individual therapy, and developed academic and behavioral treatment plans. Talunja holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Mississippi and has begun work on her Doctor of Education in Community Counseling degree.
